The Electric Storm – Abstract Kids Art by Captain (Age 5)
Titled “The Electric Storm,” this piece is a bold exploration of raw energy and nature’s power. Created at age 5, Captain moved away from traditional shapes to express the feeling of a dramatic weather event. You can see what looks like heavy rain or lightning falling from a fiery red sky, crashing down onto dark, jagged mountains. The pops of bright yellow and purple suggest flashes of light amidst a dark, swirling environment. It is a deeply emotive work that captures the “feeling” of a storm rather than just the look of one.
Technique: This artwork is a brilliant example of Experimental Mixed Media. Captain used thick oil pastels and crayons to create heavy, dark outlines and scratchy textures in the foreground. He then layered intense watercolor washes in red, purple, and blue, allowing the colors to bleed and mix to create a sense of chaos and movement. The most striking feature is the white drip technique at the top, where he used liquid paint to create a physical “rain” effect that runs down the page, adding a 3D element to this expressive composition.
A quick note from Captain's dad 👋
Thanks for being here. My son Captain is 6, and this whole site exists because his drawings were too good to keep hidden in a folder at home.
When you download a piece, you can print it, frame it, use it as wallpaper, or put it on mugs, shirts, cards — whatever makes you smile.
Every sale pays for his next box of pastels and his next art class. He lights up when someone picks his work. Thank you. 💛
