The Universe Tree: Planting Tomorrow – Kids Art by Captain (Age 5)
In “The Universe Tree: Planting Tomorrow,” created by Captain at age 5, the simple act of gardening becomes a cosmic event. Two children are seen carefully tending to a new sprout in a vibrant red earth. As they work, the tree above them transforms into a “Galaxy Tree”—its dark, starry canopy serves as a home for a colorful elephant, a giraffe, and even a small green dinosaur. Surrounded by helpful little robots and a glowing red sun, this piece reminds us that nature and imagination are always connected.
Technique: This is one of the most complex compositions in the collection, showcasing a mastery of spatial storytelling and texture. Captain used a vibrant watercolor wash for the background, creating a swirling “nebula” of blues, greens, and yellows. The central tree is rendered with bold black paint and white stippling, creating a high-contrast night-sky effect within the foliage. The figures in the foreground are drawn with expressive marker lines, showing great attention to emotion and movement. The use of a warm-toned foreground against a cool-toned background creates a perfect visual balance that draws the eye directly to the act of planting.
A quick note from Captain's dad 👋
Thanks for being here. My son Captain is 6, and this whole site exists because his drawings were too good to keep hidden in a folder at home.
When you download a piece, you can print it, frame it, use it as wallpaper, or put it on mugs, shirts, cards — whatever makes you smile.
Every sale pays for his next box of pastels and his next art class. He lights up when someone picks his work. Thank you. 💛
