Technique: This piece showcases Captain’s ability to handle complex compositions. He used bright crayons to give the dragon its golden scales and the performers their red festive outfits, ensuring they stand out against the detailed background. The city skyline is rendered with a mix of watercolor and ink, while the sky features a “stippling” effect with white and yellow paint to mimic a shower of fireworks or confetti. The layering of the figures over the buildings provides a wonderful sense of depth and perspective for such a young artist.
