Technique: This artwork is a masterclass in watercolor texture and color blending. Captain used a wet-on-wet technique to create the dreamy, shifting background of warm oranges and deep forest greens, which gives the piece a sense of humid, dappled sunlight. He then added precise marker details to define the honeycomb, the bee’s wings, and the delicate veins of the leaves. The contrast between the broad, sweeping watercolor washes and the sharp, playful illustrations creates a dynamic and engaging visual story.
