At the top of a lush green hill sits a charming white cottage with a thatched roof, nestled under a bright orange sunset sky. A magnificent blue waterfall plunges down the hillside into a crystal-clear pond where a happy swimmer splashes about. With winding ladders and hidden garden terraces filled with flowers and trees, it’s a playful map of a perfect dream home where nature and home meet.
Technique: This piece is a masterclass in complex composition and color zoning. Captain used vibrant watercolor washes to create the dramatic orange-and-red sky, which contrasts beautifully with the deep greens of the hills and the bright cerulean of the waterfall. He used bold markers to create the structured lines of the house, the ladders, and the stony border of the water. A standout feature is the detailed stippling (white and pink dots) used for the blossoming garden, adding a sense of texture and life to the landscape.
